<dc:description xml:lang="en">The dataset was compiled as part of the HeavyMin project using SEM-based automated mineralogy and comprises mineralogical investigations of stream sediments from selected valleys in the central Tauern Window. The mineralogical composition of the heavy mineral fraction and the mineralchemistry of indicator minerals e.g., scheelite, magnetite, pyrite etc. provide insights into potential mineral deposits in the source area. The regional focus is on assessing tungsten potential, particularly based on scheelite (CaWO₄), as well as other ore systems containing copper, molybdenum, and precious metals. The data support the identification of exploration vectors and provenance analysis of mineralized areas.</dc:description>
<dc:description xml:lang="en">These published data are part of the project “Heavy Mineral Analysis as Indicators of Raw Material Types and Prospectivity with a Focus on Tungsten (HeavyMin)”, carried out as part of the exploration initiative of the Federal Ministry of Finance. The HeavyMin project presents a fundamental contribution to the exploration activity in Austria by systematically sampling heavy minerals from stream and glacial sediments in selected areas. The objective of the project is to collect mineralogical and geochemical data of indicator minerals. The series comprises a consistent dataset comprising mineralogical and mineralchemical information on heavy mineral samples from various mountain streams in the Hohe Tauern region.</dc:description>
